About Emirates
Based in Dubai, this airline is a subsidiary of The Emirates Group and is the largest airline in the Middle East region. With a commanding operation of 3.600 flights per week, it operates to more than 150 cities in 80 countries across the world making it one of the flag carriers of UAE. It is also the second largest in the world in terms of kilometers flown per freight tonne.
Brief History
Emirates Airlines was launched in the year 1985 with its first flight from Dubai to Karachi and very soon included destinations such as Cairo, Colombo, and Dhaka among others. Emirates Airlines expanded quickly over time establishing itself among the world's leading international airlines. Its first year of operation was so successful that Gulf Air's earnings were projected to have dropped by 56%. By decision, Emirates Airline has chosen to remain outside of all three global airline alliances. The airline believes this is a "hindrance" to growth because alliance partners' agreement will be required in order to shift and respond to market changes.
Hub
This airline connects the world to, and through, its hub at Dubai International Airport. Emirates is famous for operating the largest ever Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 fleets in the world, with 3,600 plus flights every week.

We are well aware that the A380 tends to get all the attention, however, Emirates' 144 Boeing 777s constitute the backbone of the fleet. This consists of both passenger planes and special freighters that fly for SkyCargo. The 777-300ER, 777-200LR, and 777F are the three versions that make up the fleet. While this air carrier is popular for its widebody-only airline, it does have a narrowbody too. The A319 ACJ is a VIP aircraft designed to transport the world’s elite passengers. It is structured in a luxurious layout with a bedroom, 10 first-class suites, and living rooms for travelers.
Future Plans
An airline such as Emirates emphasizes on planning for its fleet and has tens of billions of dollars of planes on order. Currently, with orders for 205 Boeing 777X family aircraft (which includes 777-8 and 777-9s), 35 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft (20 x 787-8 and 15 x 787-10), and 65 Airbus A350-900 aircraft, this carrier is looking to strengthen their fleet further.
